During the 1800’s, Öland had about 2000 windmills where you ground flour of the grain. Today you’ll find Öland’s perhaps most beautiful and well maintained windmills in Lerkaka. Lerkaka’s row of windmills is a memory of this time when the windmills were lined up in the strongholds. Here is always one of the windmills open so you can go in and look!
